How we do it
- Walk the elevation and plan the runWe look at the house from the street, at night if we can. Which rooflines read from the road, where the track can hide in the shadow line, and where a run would just light up a blank wall.
- Mount the track so it disappearsTrack goes tight under the eave or into the soffit channel so the daytime look is a thin line in the shadow, not a strip of hardware on your fascia.
- Power and controlA dedicated exterior circuit and the controller, sized to the run. The electrical is a licensed electrician’s work and we coordinate it as part of the job.
- Set up the app with youZones named for what they are, a few scenes built before we leave, and a short walkthrough. Most people want warm white, one holiday scene and a game-day scene, and never touch the rest.
Why this makes particular sense in Montana
The argument for permanent lighting is strongest exactly where winter is hardest, which is here.
You are not hanging lights on ice. The traditional alternative is a ladder against a frozen eave in November, and taking it down in January in worse conditions. That is the single most common reason people call about this.
The season is long. Dark by five in December means months where the exterior of the house is only seen lit. Warm white year-round does more for curb appeal here than in places where you are outside in daylight most evenings.
Install before the ground freezes. September and October. Once the eaves ice up, mounting track is slower, harder to do cleanly, and in some conditions not possible at all.
It is not only December. The systems that actually get used are the ones set to warm white most of the year, with a couple of saved scenes. Blue and gold on a Bobcat Saturday takes one tap.
What to ask any installer, including us
Is the track color-matched to the trim, and how visible is it in daylight from the street? Are the LEDs individually addressable, or does a whole run change color together? What is the warranty on the diodes, the track and the labor separately — and who honors it in three years?
Ask to see a daytime photo of a finished install, not just the glamour shot at night. Anyone can make it look good in the dark. The daytime look is what you live with for eleven months.
What drives the price
We quote every property individually rather than publishing a flat rate, because these six things change the number more than anything else. Nothing on your invoice will differ from the written quote.

Common questions
Can you see the track during the day?
Barely, when it is installed properly. It sits in the shadow line under the eave and is matched to the trim color where the product line offers it. From the street it reads as a trim line.
What does it cost to run?
These are LEDs — the draw is low, and running warm white on an evening schedule is a minor addition to a power bill. The controller lets you schedule it so it is not on at three in the morning.
Can I change colors myself?
Yes, all of it from the app — colors, zones, brightness, patterns and schedules. We set up the scenes most people actually use before we leave so you are not starting from a blank app.
When should it be installed?
September or October, before the eaves ice up. Installs after the first hard freeze are harder to do cleanly and sometimes have to wait for a thaw.
What happens if a section fails?
Individually addressable LEDs mean a failure is usually one diode or one segment rather than the whole run. We hand over the manufacturer warranty paperwork at the end of the job and help you use it.
